Bengal gram is one of the earliest and the  beginning cultivated legumes. In Indian, it is popularly known as Chana Dal. Bengal gram seeds are small and dark and have a irregular surface. It is mainly cultivated in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Iran and Mexico.

3. Bengal grams increase the utilization of glucose and are therefore good for diabetes patients.

5. Bengal gram juice contains rich source of iron and that is highly beneficial for the iron deficiency anemia which is know for lack healthy red blood cells to carry adequate oxygen to your body's tissues.

Caution: More than is necessary intake of whole Bengal gram powder should be avoided as it causes indigestion.

Precautions to taken while buy and store safily.

While buying, must ensure that the Bengal gram(Chana Dal) or chickpeas is not whole or cracked. Avoid if there is any evidence of moisture or insect damages in it.

It can be stored in a cool, dark and dry place where they stored last for approximately 12 months. Once cooked, boiled or sprouted, they must be refrigerated in a covered container, where they can be stored for up to 2 days.
