History of Green Gram(मूंग दाल).
The begning of Green gram, originated in India where it has been cultivated for millennia years ago. After that it spread, in early times, to other Asian
countries and later to Africa, Australia, the Americas, and West Indies. India is the one of the largest producer, followed by China. Green Gram also grown in many tropical African countries.
All about Green Gram(मूंग दाल).
The green gram is a small, round olive green bean with a sweet flavor and soft texture which is good for health. The Green gram bean is also called as mung or moong bean.The Green gram(moong bean) is the seed of Vigna radiata, belonging to the Indian subcontinent. These are commonly used in South-Asian cuisine. They are yellow in color once the upper skins are removed.
Usage of Green Gram(मूंग दाल).
It is mostly used as a main dish though sometimes it is also used to make sweet dishes like Green gram cooked in jaggery and cardamons, Green gram modak
etc.. It is also cooked as a dish by boiling and adding spices, or can be made into a paste. Green gram are serve or consumed directly with lemon and salt as
a healthy snack or added to salad. This form of green gram is obtained by sprout them in water for a duration. In some parts, the upper layer is removed to make green gram pulse.
In China green gram is used to make to a certain kind of dessert dish like Green Moong Dal (My Yellow Table) ..., Moong Dal Ki Goli etc... In some countries, green gram paste is used to make ice creams or frozen ice pops which is health also. Green gram batter is used to make a certain kind of crepes or pancake named pesarattu in Andhra Pradesh.

2. It has both insolvable and water soluble fibers that help maintain a healthy appetite for healthy body.
3. Green Gram(moong bean) contains Water soluble fiber which helps lower LDL cholesterol and protects from cardiovascular diseases.
4. It digests slowly and gradually releasing sugar into the blood and helps maintain the blood sugar level which is good for human body.
5. It is said that the water in which green gram(moong bean) was soaked is a good medicine during the diseases like cholera, measles and chicken pox etc...
