History of Arborio Rice.

Story of risotto began in the 14th century B.C., During their ruling when the Arabs brought rice to Sicily and Spain. Italy was the ideal place to grow short-grain rice due to the preferred humid weather and abundant flat land. As a result, rice became a one of main part of Italian food culture.

All about Arborio Rice.

Arborio rice is an Italian short grain rice mostly used to make one of its classic rice dishes called risotto. 'Riso' means rice in Italian Language. Originally it was cultivated in Italy but now a days its is produced in other places too. The name Arborio Rice was given after the Arborio town in Italy. Arborio rice(risotto) has a pearl like white exterior. After being cooked it tastes like creamy, starchy and chewy.The grains are short in height, plump and somewhat oval(rounded) shaped. Arborio rice(risotto) has a high starch content.

Usage of Arborio Rice( अरबोरिया चावल).



Arborio Rice is mostly used to make risotto dishes like lemon spring risotto, chicken risotto and risotto cakes. It releases a large amount of starch while cooked. Arborio Rice is used to make risotto because of starch that gives a taste creamy.  It is cooked same as pasta (al dente or bite like). It is available in two varieties white and brown. White Arborio is the most popularly variety used for making risottos. 
Arborio Rice is a good source of iron.It also has an excellent capacity to absorb water.

1. This rice is rich in carbohydrates that gives energy to the body.
2. Arborio rice provides more amount of proteins than long grain white rice and good for health.
3. This rice is also a source of calcium.
